The hosting itself is fine. But I think they reel in a lot of people that don't know much about wordpress and more or less take advantage of that by charging an exuberant amount per month for hosting. I've been in this game a while and I know what is a decent price and what is is not. I got a good deal with WP Engine so I signed up with them. That's the only reason I signed up. Hopefully they still honor the deal in the coming year but I doubt they will. My websites are running super fast so it'll be a shame if I have to leave.
WP Engine’s product portfolio has grown considerably over the last couple of years. In fact, we just launched our high-performance advanced security solution, Global Edge Security. On the smaller, shared-plans side, agencies and freelance developers always praise the ease of the development and production environments on our platform, with our stalwart transferable install feature being a particular highlight.

For more than a decade, Jeffrey L. Wilson has penned gadget- and video game-related nerd-copy for a variety of publications, including 1UP, 2D-X, The Cask, Laptop, LifeStyler, Parenting, Sync, Wise Bread, and WWE. He now brings his knowledge and skillset to PCMag as a Managing Editor. When he isn't staring at a monitor (or two) and churning out web hosting, music, utilities, and video game copy, Jeffrey makes comic books, mentors, practices bass and Jeet Kune Do, and appears on the odd podcasts or convention panel. He also collects vinyl and greatly enjoys a craft brew.

What followed, was nothing but amazement. At first, when entering the administration panel, I felt like it was a little bare bones. There weren’t halve as many pretty icons as there were on cPanel, which I was used to, and it was a bit strange to encounter something like this. However, after reading through their extensive documentation on how to do literally everything to start up Your Site, it was a true piece of cake.
WPE is over-rated. They have a lot of issues that people not in the know are unaware of. The canonical name wpengine.c causes double indexing on google and DESTROYS SEO. If you try to point the name back to your domain you run into issues with looping. They also force a no index in robots.txt without alerting anyone of doing so. This disallow gets copied over to the live site causing your site to not be indexed by google. Again DESTROYING your SEO. They added this disallow to solve the problem of double indexing, which does not work anyway because google still indexes it (the correct way is to use htaccess). So in the end the site winds up not being indexed and gets points against it from google.

Last year they changed 10 installs to 5 installs for the same price. I'm blown away by their technical support though, in fact, it's the best I've experienced. Check carefully before you sign up and see what all you get for the price since they change their packages often it seems. I've stayed with them since I've had horrid experiences with tech support from other companies in the past, and it's not a fun thing when you spend all night long trying to do all of the research yourself because no one wanted to help you. With that said, I've certainly saved a lot of time and hassle from using WP Engine. Time is priceless and I'll keep spending whatever it takes (within reason) to keep having superior customer service.
“I spent the majority of my post-Trinity career trying to be perceived not as a female leader but just somebody who gets things done. But being an executive who is also a mother of two daughters, I realized that I had a responsibility to advocate bringing your full self to work. Being different is what makes all of us stronger. I needed to have that realization personally in order to be a champion for it.
