When I checked out their websites, I found they had an amazing plethora of options and security just for WordPress which I could only dream of at the web hosts I had partnered up with earlier. There was a downside however, the price. I finally came along WPEngine and I decided to sign myself up with them, due to a promotional code which allowed the first 3 months to be hosted for only 4$ a month, instead of the usual 29$.
That said, WP Engine plans are priced a bit on the high side especially compared to shared hosting, which is not helpful for those on limited budgets. However, for those that plan to scale their business in the near future, or are already generating a lot of revenue, the high price is worth the services they provide and the peace of mind that their site is safe and always running.

If you approach them with any issue, they blame it on the developer. This is so they can sell you developer services, getting your current developer fired. Imagine your coding a website for someone and someone comes in when you are not looking and puts a disallow on the site. You know the default is to only disallow the admin panel and you never created a robots.txt file, nor do you even have access to the robots.txt file from the sftp. As far as you are concerned it does not exist. You then get a call from your client screaming saying that they spoke with WPE who says it is a common mistake by a rookie developer. As far as I am concerned the only person responsible for the disallow is the person who puts it there. You cant force code and not take responsibility. What other code has been forced that the developer will get blamed for?
Last year they changed 10 installs to 5 installs for the same price. I'm blown away by their technical support though, in fact, it's the best I've experienced. Check carefully before you sign up and see what all you get for the price since they change their packages often it seems. I've stayed with them since I've had horrid experiences with tech support from other companies in the past, and it's not a fun thing when you spend all night long trying to do all of the research yourself because no one wanted to help you. With that said, I've certainly saved a lot of time and hassle from using WP Engine. Time is priceless and I'll keep spending whatever it takes (within reason) to keep having superior customer service.
All plans come with many excellent features, including a content delivery network (CDN) for faster page load times, staging environments so you can test site changes in a non-public environment, and WP Engine's own LargeFS software for transferring and storing large amounts of data. Here's another important feature: you can select Amazon Web Services or Google Cloud Platform as your site's backbone, enabling no-downtime scalability and tight security. Pressable does not give you this option. Cloudways, on the other hand, lets you select one of five cloud-based infrastructure platforms.

A major focus for WP Engine has been, and continues to be, around contributing to the WordPress community. In fact, it’s another one of our values – Committed to Giving Back. Our commitment in time, money, writing, coding and thought leadership totaled more than $1.7 million in 2018 so far. The StudioPress acquisition is the next level for us in these community giveback efforts. As WP Engine moves from strength to strength, we have the resources to help the Genesis Framework to grow and flourish. In fact, 15% of all our customers are using Genesis, with 25% of our largest customers utilizing it. As a company, it’s a framework we are already very familiar with.

Extremely likely, between the simple setup, automated migrations and great support when you need just a little more control, WP Engine has not failed me yet. There seems to be times when the admin side of a site seems a bit sluggish. This is usually during peak hours, but if your site is on a server with other sites that have heavy loads, you can become affected. But you can usually ask them to move your site to another server and they’ll take care of getting you to a more reliable environment. – Bret Wegner, Drive Social Now / quoted from Fit Small Business.

By default, sites hosted at WP Engine with page that ends in a number, (e.g. example.com/page/1) or in a query arg, (e.g. example.com/mypage/?myproduct=name), will be redirected to the page before the number or query arg sequence begins (site.com/page, site.com/category, site.com/mypage/).* This setting, known as “Redirect Bots”, is a major SEO issue as it will limit Google bots to discover content on your site and impact website PageRank flow through your site.

Recruitment process here is a complete sham. The only place I know where you submit your application and then you get a canned response five minutes later indicating "thanks but no thanks". Their recruiters, and I use that term very loosely, don't have the fundamental skills to appropriately vet candidates if all they do is push a button to send off lame canned response notices. Where can I apply for that job because it sounds easy to be lazy.

What followed, was nothing but amazement. At first, when entering the administration panel, I felt like it was a little bare bones. There weren’t halve as many pretty icons as there were on cPanel, which I was used to, and it was a bit strange to encounter something like this. However, after reading through their extensive documentation on how to do literally everything to start up Your Site, it was a true piece of cake.
Site speed is a major differentiator for WP Engine. It’s one of the key hallmarks of our platform which set us apart from our competitors. The technology behind this includes single-click CDN integration, our custom NGINX extension, and SSD technology. The CDN drastically cuts time waiting for assets and ensures resources are freed up for important requests. The NGINX integration provides a better experience for your visitors by prioritizing human requests over automated system requests. And the SSD technology works to avoid RAM saturation and improves backend rendering. For a deeper dive on our technology stack, check out this page.

I knew from the start that the #1 single most important decision would be the hosting provider. There’s loads of options out there and my business partner and I tested several of the key players in the market. Ultimately we went with WP Engine…while not the cheapest option out there, they offer the most impressive list of features. Add to that the quick responses we get from WP Engine’s support team and you’ve got a solid win.
